Jess Bray Memorial Tournament Rules

General Rules

• Final roster sizes will be determined based upon registration numbers
• Each team will be required to have a minimum of 3 females in the field
        * If only 2 females present, the team will only be permitted to have 9 total players in the field
• Max number of players in the batting order is 12, there is no pre-determined ordering of where females go in the batting order

Game Rules

• Maximum 7 Innings 
• Maximum 7 Runs an Inning (7 th Inning is an Open Inning)
• 4 Home Run Limit, if both teams have 4 Home Runs the +1 rule will apply 
• After Home Run limit has been reached, a Home Run will be considered a double 
• Foul ball with 2 strikes will be deemed an out 
• Females can bat anywhere in the lineup 
• Mercy rule if one team is up 10 runs after 5 innings 
• Home Team does NOT bat in the bottom half of the last inning if winning, or up by 10 in the bottom of the 5 th inning 
• Pitches must be between 6 feet and 12 feet high, an illegal pitch counts as a ball unless the batter swings then it is played as the result of the swing 
• There is no bunting, swinging bunts are okay 
• Foul ball that exceeds the height of the batter can caught by the catcher is out 
• If a ball is thrown out of the play, all runners will advance one base

Team Etiquette

• Each team must select 3 or 4 ‘umpires’ that will rotate to serve as the ump when their team is on offence, these individuals will be expected to know the rules of the game 
• Every team keeps their own score and needs a scorekeeper, the score should be confirmed at the end of each half inning 
• Players must do their best to stay out of the way of a fielder making a play, if the umpire deems intention interference the base runner will be called out.
